Learning Through Connection & Challenge
At the heart of my work is a belief that students grow best when they are known, supported, and invited to stretch themselves in meaningful ways. Over the years, I’ve worked closely with children and teens in many different settings, but the common thread has always been the same: thoughtful coaching, strong relationships, and experiences that help students discover what they are capable of.

One-on-One Coaching and Mentoring
I have extensive experience working one-on-one with students, supporting them academically, creatively, and personally. In these settings, I focus on helping students build confidence, develop ownership of their learning, and reflect on their strengths and challenges. I’m thoughtful about where each student is starting, and I intentionally build on their existing knowledge and experiences so new ideas feel approachable, meaningful, and connected.
Whether the work is academic, project-based, or skill-focused, my role is to listen closely, ask the right questions, and help students move forward with clarity and courage. I break complex ideas into manageable steps, adapt instruction in the moment, and make sure students truly understand what they’re working on rather than simply pushing through.
This individualized support allows students to take risks, work through frustration, and experience the satisfaction that comes from real progress.
Group Enrichment and Project-Based Learning
Alongside individual coaching, I have led a wide range of group-based enrichment experiences designed to spark curiosity, collaboration, and initiative. These include:
-
Media workshops where students explored storytelling, production, and communication
-
Clubs in which kids designed and built their own websites or created a weekly news show from concept to execution
-
Creative and skill-building programs that encouraged leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving
In group settings, I emphasize shared responsibility, collaboration across ages and abilities, and learning by doing. Students are not passive participants; they are creators, decision-makers, and contributors.
Outdoor Experiences and Experiential Learning
Some of the most powerful learning happens outside traditional classrooms. I’ve led both multi-day and day-long outdoor experiences that invite students to step outside their comfort zones in supportive, intentional ways.
Highlights include:
-
Multi-day outdoor excursions to places like Julian and Joshua Tree
-
Day hikes and local adventures focused on testing limits, building resilience, and developing self-trust
These experiences are carefully designed to balance challenge and support. Students learn to navigate uncertainty, rely on themselves and each other, and reflect on what they’re capable of accomplishing.
Learning That’s Meaningful and Enjoyable
Across all of this work, one thing matters deeply to me: learning should feel meaningful, engaging, and yes, fun. Joy, laughter, curiosity, and connection are not extras; they are essential ingredients. When students feel safe, challenged, and supported, they show up fully and grow in ways that last.
If you’re interested in working together, I offer both individual support and thoughtfully designed small-group experiences.
Families can partner with me for one-on-one coaching or mentoring, or collaborate to create custom group programs, enrichment workshops, or outdoor experiences for a small group of students. I’d love to connect and explore what working together could look like.
